Nestled on the eastern part of Island Krk, the town of Vrbnik stands opposite Novi Vinodolski on the mainland. Perched atop a cliff, it ascends approximately 50 meters above the sea.
Croats immigrated to the island at the end of the 6th century. and at the begin-ning of the 7th century. The earliest written record of Vrbnik, alongside the town of Dobrinj, dates back to the oldest known Glagolitic charter of Dragoslav the Great (Croatian: Darovnica slavnoga Dragoslava) written in 1100.
Vrbnik's unique charm is enhanced by its proximity to the Vinodol Channel, which is renowned for its violent storms. However, what truly distinguishes this destina-tion is its famed golden Vrbnička žlahtina wine, produced at a rate exceeding 1,000,000 bottles annually, acclaimed both domestically and internationally. Ad-ditionally, nestled in the old town, Vrbnik is home to the narrowest street in the world.
