The small town of Punat is situated on the east coast of Punat Bay, which covers almost a narrow terrain of 6 square kilometers. Just above the village lies Krk's tallest mountain, featuring the peaks of Veli Vrh (541 m) and Obzova (568 m). His-torically, Punat thrived as a center for olive cultivation, viticulture, and fishing.
Punat's first hotel, Villa Lucija, opened its doors in 1923, marking the beginning of the town's tourism development. In the center sits one of Punat Bay’s gems — the lovely little island of Košljun, renowned for its verdant landscapes and the iconic Franciscan monastery.
Punat holds significant prominence in Croatia's nautical tourism sector. In 1964, the inaugural phase of yacht maintenance and storage was initiated at the Punat Shipyard, marking the genesis of Croatia's first marina — Marina Punat. Presently, the marina boasts 800 high-standard berths across 11 docks, accommodating vessels of up to 45 meters in length. Consequently, Marina Punat stands as a piv-otal hub, solidifying Punat's status as an authentic nautical center.
